McKay Roofing

For this long-time client, Salient AI designed the website, moved it onto an AI-driven foundation and continues to build SEO, AEO and GEO visibility. Now we are applying the same practical AI thinking to the operating system behind the roofing work.

01 · The website

Built to earn the opportunity before McKay climbs the roof.

The website gives homeowners, property managers and commercial buyers direct paths into metal, asphalt and flat-roofing expertise, repairs, maintenance, proof and estimates.

02 · The long-term assignment

Visibility is valuable because it creates a chance to compete.

A roofing company cannot win work it never gets invited to quote. McKay’s marketing program is designed to keep the company visible when a customer begins researching a roof, a repair or a contractor.

Over the years we have continued expanding the website around the roofing systems, customer questions and Ottawa Valley communities that matter. The recent AI-driven rebuild gives us a faster way to keep that information current and connected.

The commercial result is straightforward: inquiries arrive, McKay gets the opportunity to assess the work and the team gets a fair chance to earn the project.

03 · Roofing expertise

Not one roofing keyword. The whole buying decision.

Customers enter through different materials, buildings, problems and levels of urgency. Each needs a relevant path.

04 · SEO, AEO + GEO

The search system follows what the customer actually knows.

Some customers know the material. Some only know the symptom. Others search by building type, location or the urgency of the repair. McKay needs useful visibility across all of them.

05 · Local visibility

One regional reputation, made relevant community by community.

McKay’s local content connects more than 50 years of roofing experience to the places its crews actually serve.

06 · The next constraint

More leads exposed a different kind of friction.

Marketing was doing its job. The next opportunity was inside the business.

McKay used established tools including AccuLynx for roofing CRM workflows and Corfix for construction safety, timekeeping and employee records. Both are legitimate specialist platforms. The problem was the accumulated time spent moving among systems, schedules and client-specific workarounds.

Instead of assuming that “custom software” was automatically the answer, we looked at the actual friction: where information was repeated, where follow-ups could be missed, where profitability was harder to see and where the workflow did not quite match the way McKay operates.

07 · One focused day

Before approving a rebuild, we made the idea believable.

MorningMap the costly friction and choose one representative workflow.PrototypeUse AI to build version zero—not the finished system, but enough to test the idea.DecisionLet McKay see what is possible before committing to a larger rebuild.OutcomeConfidence to proceed, grounded in something the team could actually evaluate.

08 · The operating platform

Software should support the roofing company—not become the company.

The new integrated platform is being built around the work McKay already needs to perform. AI accelerates the design and development process, while operational reality decides what belongs in the product.

09 · The principle

Just because AI can build it does not mean the business needs it.

The right question is whether one focused experiment can reveal enough value to justify the next step. For McKay, the prototype showed that a purpose-built system could reduce friction around work the company already performs every day.
